The Key Coalition of Alaska is a nonprofit, statewide organization that advocates for community-based services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. The nonprofit hosts an annual in-person Key Campaign in Juneau. Infant Learning Programs (ILP) were one of this year’s priorities during the in-person event in mid-March.

From meeting with lawmakers to advocating on the steps of the capitol, this year’s event was a big success. However, advocacy doesn’t end at the conclusion of the event. Continued efforts are needed to ensure these essential programs are funded by lawmakers. Please join us in amplifying our voices for our community.

Contact Your Reps

Reach out to your House representatives to support infant learning program funding. Email, call or both, to express the reasons why ILP is important.

Your representative’s contact information (email and phone) can be found here.

Use the legislative system to contact multiple people with a short message here

Talking Points to Include

  • Asking them to support the increment funding to the budget, which represents support for children birth to three with developmental delays and disabilities.

  • Highlight support for $5.72 million increment to the House Finance Budget and appreciation for the support.

  • Share a short story or example of how infant learning has had an impact on your life or that of a loved one.

  • Emphasize infant learning has been flat funded for 11 years and how beneficial the increment will be to families because programs are properly funded.

This is a critical time for our advocacy efforts. Respectful communication makes a difference.
